Sandwell UDP

Metro Line 1 began operating in May 1999, between Wolverhampton and Birmingham and is serving significant parts of the Borough. The business case for the Midland Metro Extension, Wednesbury to Brierley Hill has been submitted to government. The proposed alignment utilises part of the mothballed South Staffordshire heavy rail alignment and will allow for any future sharing of the corridor with heavy rail services.
