| The Sandwell Unitary Development Plan (UDP) is a ten-year plan which guides how land should be used. It seeks to ensure that there are jobs, homes, shops, parks, and other important facilities, available to everyone, while at the same time protecting and improving the environment. The UDP will also make a valuable contribution to improving the safety and security of the area and assist with the reduction of crime and disorder within the Borough. This Plan will take things forward another 10 years to 2011. The changing pattern of land uses in the Borough present us with the opportunity to shape the quality of the environment that the people of Sandwell deserve. The UDP has a significant role in this process and through it I hope to engage all the communities of Sandwell in delivering a strategy for the transformation of the Borough as a place in which to live, work and feel safe.
Councillor Bob Badham M.B.E.
Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport
